POLICE REPORTS

At 10:50 p.m. on March 2, officers responded to a call concerning residents potentially smoking marijuana. Upon arrival, officers asked the three students if they had been smoking marijuana. All three denied. The resident consented to a search and officers found three open beer cans. When asked if any other alcohol was present, the resident produced several unopened cans from the refrigerator and also a bottle of 70 proof liquor that he stated belonged to his roommate. The resident was instructed to pour the alcohol down the sink.

On Friday, a female resident came to Public Safety to report someone entering her dorm room and taking $20 on March 4. The resident stated she loaned a ten dollar bill to another female to purchase her a sweet tea at McDonalds. The resident state that when she removed this money from her wallet, there was also a twenty dollar bill in the wallet. The resident received change from the other female and returned to her room around 4 a.m. It was at this time that the resident noticed the twenty dollar bill that was in her wallet earlier was missing. The resident searched the room but could not locate the missing money.

At 8:45 p.m. on Saturday, an officer received a call from Pope County dispatch stating a subject had called from Vista Place Apartments and said someone had tried to break into his apartment. The resident stated that he noticed that his lock was bent and he assumed someone had tried to break into his room. He stated that he was not aware of anything being stolen from his room or the apartment.

Feb. 9 at 10:20 p.m.: Complainant came to public safety office to report theft of 1 indigo dark wash pair of jeans, 1 dark wash skinny jean, and 1 light wash faded jegging from the 5th room laundry room of Nutt Hall. Approximate value of theft estimated to be $200.
Feb. 10 at 7:00 a.m.: Four windows were damaged in Brown Hall. Exact time of incident is not known.The windows appeared to have been shot with a BB gun from the outside. Estimated damage to windows is $50.
Feb. 10 at 2:00 p.m.: An unknown person took a wallet from a classroom in Witherspoon between 9:50 a.m. and 11:00 a.m. Contents of wallet included $160, a driver’s license, a hunting fishing license, and a concealed carry permit.
Feb. 12 at 21:55 p.m.: Complainant reported losing his wallet at approximately 6:30 pm. Complainant last remembered having the wallet at Chambers Cafeteria. Inside the wallet was $100, his social security card, and a citizen bank debit card.
Feb. 12 at 2:25 p.m.: Officers responded to a possible marijuana possession charge at M Street. A Resident Assistant stated that he was going to room to room offering free condoms to students as part of a safe sex awareness activity. The RA stated that when he approached the room, one of the residents said he should open the door and throw his roommate a condom.
The RA stated that he opened the door, threw the resident a condom and noticed a “line of marijuana” spread out on the desk. As he was leaving, the second resident told the RA “that’s not what you think it is.” The RA then notified public safety regarding the matter and noted that as he left, the first resident was banging on the door asking to be let in. Officers arrived and entered the room with consent from the first resident. The first resident spontaneously opened an altoid tin containing marijuana. The marijuana and a fixed blade knife discovered during a search of the room were taken to the public safety office.​
