The Student Government Association (SGA) prepares for the fall semester with upcoming elections for positions in the Senate and Executive Board.

Voting opens at 12 a.m. on Monday and closes at 11:59 p.m. on Wednesday. SGA will sponsor a voting station at Chambers Cafeteria from noon to 1 p.m. Students may vote independently on the Link.

SGA President Katie Frazier, senior marketing major from Danville, said all positions are open in preparation for the upcoming semester. Twenty-six positions in the Senate and eight positions on the Executive Board are available. To be eligible for a Senate position, the candidate must be a full-time student with a GPA no less than 2.25 and must not be on disciplinary probation.

The requirement change for an Executive Board position is GPA must be no less than 2.5. Candidates must have served two semesters in a Senate position and be a junior to run for president or vice president.

SGA serves as a voice for students. SGA has been discussing issues on campus such as speedbump alterations and campus safety.

Zach Schwartz, junior Biomedical major from Cedarville, serves as one of three junior senate members. “Every meeting is a brainstorm,” Schwartz said.
